Questions
Frequently asked
Everything coaches, players and families ask before getting started. Still stuck? Get in touch.
Who is TeamDock for?
Hockey teams: the coaches, managers, players and parents of a single team. Each team gets its own private portal plus a public site at your own web address.
How much does it cost?
Free for 14 days, then one flat price per team on the Annual Team Plan (best value) or Monthly Flex, taxes included. Both plans include the same features; one price covers your whole roster. No credit card is needed to start your trial — you only add a payment method when the trial ends and you decide to keep going, so you're never charged unless you choose to subscribe.
Do players and parents pay anything?
No. The single team subscription covers everyone you invite. Players and parents join free with an invite or your team's join code.
How many players, parents, and staff can join our team?
As many as you need. There's no limit. One team subscription covers your entire roster: every player, parent, and coach or manager you invite. There are no per-seat fees, so adding people never changes your price.
Is my players' information private?
Yes. Roster, schedule, video notes and feedback are login-gated and private by default. Privacy is enforced in the database, not just hidden in the UI. A player and their parent see the same player-facing content, and nothing about your players goes public unless you turn it on.
Will my team have a public-facing page?
Yes. Every team gets its own public page at your-team.teamdock.ca, with news, photos, sponsors and a “Support us” link. You can also publish your schedule and roster if you like, both are off by default, so you decide what's shared.
Does TeamDock host our game video, and is storage unlimited?
TeamDock organizes Film Room notes around video you host on YouTube or Vimeo. Full game files aren't uploaded to TeamDock. Storage isn't unlimited either: it's fair-use for team photos, files and season media, which keeps TeamDock fast and affordable. Additional storage may be available if needed.
Can I use our own team colours and logo?
Absolutely. Set your accent colour, upload your logo and a hero image, and both your public site and your team portal match your brand.
How do players get film and feedback?
Add YouTube or Vimeo links, or connect your team's YouTube playlist to import games automatically. Coaches tag clips at a timestamp and attach notes to specific players; each family sees only the notes meant for them.
Can I use LiveBarn or Google Drive video in the Film Room?
Indirectly, yes. The Film Room's timestamped notes work with video hosted on YouTube or Vimeo, so those are the links you paste in. If your footage lives on LiveBarn or Google Drive, the trick is to get it into YouTube or Vimeo first: download or export the clip you want (LiveBarn lets you save clips; Drive lets you download the file), then upload it to YouTube as Unlisted (or to Vimeo) and paste that link into TeamDock. Better yet, keep a YouTube playlist for the team and connect it in Settings, so new games import automatically. It's one extra step, but it keeps every clip, note and piece of feedback in one place.
How do people join, and can we use Google or Facebook sign-in?
Invite members by email or share your team's join code; new requests wait in a queue for staff approval. Members can sign in with email, Google or Facebook.
Do players and parents get notified about new feedback?
Yes. They get an in-app alert and an email the moment a coach posts feedback or tags them in a clip. For instant alerts on their phone, they add TeamDock to the Home Screen (on iPhone: Share → Add to Home Screen; on Android: Install app) and turn on notifications. It works like a regular app: free, no download from an app store.
Is there a mobile app?
Yes, as a web app you add to your phone in about ten seconds. On iPhone: open your team's page in Safari, tap Share, then Add to Home Screen. On Android: open it in Chrome, tap the menu, then Add to Home screen (or Install app). TeamDock then works like a regular app, with its own icon and instant notifications. Free, with nothing to download from an app store.
