The Film Room is where game video turns into coaching. TeamDock organizes your notes around video you already host. It does not host your full game video.
How it works
- 1Add a video link. YouTube and Vimeo play inside TeamDock. LiveBarn, Google Drive, Veo and anything else open in a new tab, and still take clips, player tags and notes. You can also connect a YouTube playlist to import games automatically.
- 2Mark a moment at the exact second. One click later jumps straight back to that play, with no scrubbing.
- 3Add a note, and aim it at a player, a pair, the whole team, or keep it coach-only for staff.
- 4Choose who sees it. Players and their linked parents see only the notes meant for them, in a personal feed they can mark reviewed.
Colour-coded categories
Each note can carry a category, so feedback reads at a glance and never relies on colour alone:
- Positive, for what you want to see more of.
- Teaching, for a concept to build on.
- Correction, for a habit to fix.
- Team Concept, for a group idea like a breakout or forecheck.
- Coach-only, for notes that stay with the staff.
Where to put the tag
One rule, and every highlight comes out right: tag the moment itself. The puck crossing the line, the hit, the save. Not where you want the clip to start.
TeamDock builds the clip around it. A highlight reel opens 10 seconds before your tag by default, so the play develops on screen and you see how it came about, and runs 10 seconds after, so you get the finish and a beat of the bench. Coaches tag differently: if you tend to tag a little early, drag the lead-in slider under the tagging rule to suit you. It applies to the clips you tag, for everyone who watches them.
- Watching and something happens? Rewind with −15s or −30s, watch it again, then press Tag this moment as it happens.
- The rewind buttons move the video, not the tag, so it never matters how long you took to reach for one.
- Want an exact clip instead? Give the note a start and an end and it plays precisely that, start to finish.
Film that lives somewhere else, like LiveBarn
Plenty of teams never touch YouTube. The rink camera runs on LiveBarn, or last week's game is a file in Google Drive, and those services do not allow their video to play on another site. Paste the link anyway: TeamDock makes a Film Room entry that opens where the film lives.
You still get the part that matters. Tag as many clips as you like, assign them to players, write the note, choose who sees it, and the whole season's coaching stays in one place. The only thing you give up is playback inside the app, and the timestamp field with it.
- On LiveBarn, share a single play and paste that address onto the clip. It then opens right at the moment instead of the top of the game.
- Tagging plays in the LiveBarn app at the rink works well with this: you get a short clip per play afterwards, and each one becomes a clip here with your note on it.
- We only ever link to your footage, never copy it, so nothing you add here breaks the terms you agreed to with them.
